How much?

It depends on a number of factors - how complex your site is, how much content you need me to write, whether you already know what you want on your pages or need me to advise you.

As a (very) rough guide, a site like ragamuffins (opens in a new window) would cost around £800 - this includes sourcing all the images, writing the copy and creating the cascading style sheet that governs the look and feel of your site.

If you need fewer pages, or don't mind using a modified Dreamweaver template, like emerson garden maintenance, the cost might be as little as £200.

If you have a set budget for your website then I'll do my best to do what you want within that budget, but you may need to keep your expectations realistic in this case. I'm also happy to discuss a phased approach to your website, so that you can spend a little at a time and test the success at each stage.

Ongoing maintenance

As part of building your site, I will make sure that it's submitted to search engines and I will maintain it for the first 2 months after the site goes live. This involves measuring the success of the site (see the measuring success page), and making any required adjustments based on that measurement (e.g. targeting specific search terms).

After that, it's up to you how you proceed. I can turn the site over to you completely or you can pay me a monthly retainer to maintain the site for you.

If you want me to maintain the site, I will produce regular reports to show you how well your site is doing in terms of the numbers of visitors, what they're searching for etc, and I will make amendments to your site as necessary (within reason).

I will always seek your approval before I make any major change to the look or feel of your website.
